Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Group membership is a free option with membership of the Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Society. There are currently five specialist special interest groups: The Australian Microbeam Analysis Society (AMAS), CryOz, FIB, Light Microscopy Australia (LMA) and Volume Imaging Australia (VIA). Major meetings of these groups happen biennially, alternating with the biennial conference of the parent organisation, AMMS.

AMMS also has State Representatives who promote microscopy and microanalysis with local events. Contacts of AMMS and Special Interest Groups executives are listed on the AMMS Contacts page. For all AMMS and Special Interest Group events, see the Society Events page.

Membership to Special Interest Groups can be selected when joining the parent society (AMMS) with no additional cost.

Australian Microbeam Analysis Society (AMAS)

Our objective is the advancement of the science and practice of all microanalysis techniques for investigating the ultrastructure and function of materials in diverse areas of biological, materials, medical and physical sciences.

CryOz

CryOZ focuses on the advancement of cryoEM, cryoET and microED and their application to strucutral and cell biology.

Focused Ion Beam (FIB)

FIB focuses on all aspects related to the application and advancement of Focused Ion Beam (FIB) technology in various scientific disciplines.

Light Microscopy Australia (LMA)

We are a national organisation holding meetings, workshops, seminars or key note lecture programs independently or in conjunction with the our parent organisation, AMMS.

Volume Imaging Australia (VIA)

Volume imaging encompasses all forms of imaging and analyses involving the generation of 3D volumetric data in all branches of science.
