    Introduction

Following the past successes of AMAS meetings, we invite you to Melbourne for the seventh AMAS symposium.  The meeting will be held at the University of Melbourne, which is within easy walking distance of the city centre.

The theme of this symposium is Techniques and Aapplications of Microanalysis, Spectroscopy and Spectral imaging.

    Purpose

The aim of the Symposium is to provide a forum where participants can discuss microanalysis and imaging, with emphasis on practical solutions and applications.  A series of workshops prior to the symposium have been arranged.  Basic workshops are specifically aimed at those wanting a general understanding.

    Contributions

We strongly encourage you to present recent work using scanning or transmission electron microscopy and microanalysis. The success of the meeting is entirely dependant on the quality (and quantity) of presentations.

    Oral presentations

It is anticipated that all contributions will be in the form of oral presentations. However, the Organising Committee reserves the option of allocating poster presentations if necessary.

Pre-Symposium Workshops on Advanced Topics in Microanalysis, Imaging & ESEM

    16-17 February , 2003

AMAS  will hold a number of concurrent half and full day workshops at RMIT and nearby venues over the two days prior to the Symposium.
