BURSARIES TO ACMM-20 & IUMAS-IV

The Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Society will provide bursaries to student, early career researchers (within 5 years of being awarded their PhD) and junior technical members of the society to travel to ACMM-20 & IUMAS-IV which will be held in Perth from the 10th to 15th February 2008. Up to 25 bursaries will be awarded and will cover the cost of registration and a $500 contribution toward the return travel fares to Perth (for applicants coming from outside Perth). Applicants must present a paper at the conference and must submit an abstract with their application. In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of bursaries available, the bursaries will be awarded on the basis of scientific quality of the abstract.

How to Apply

The applicant must be a financial member of AMMS (application forms are available from http://www.microscopy.org.au/AMMS_Application.pdf). Depending on applicant, the following details must be provided:

1) Student
  • A CV which includes:
    - Name and address (institutional address is preferred)
    - Contact phone number, fax number and email address
    - Awards and achievements, etc
  • Proof of student status (eg photocopy of student card)
  • Letter of support from supervisor
  • Abstract to be submitted to ACMM-20 for inclusion in the scientific program. The format of the abstract will be available on the conference web site. Note that in addition to this application, each applicant must follow the normal registration and abstract submission process outline on the conference web site.
2) ECR Researcher
  • A CV which includes:
    - Name and address (institutional address is preferred)
    - Degrees held (including the date PhD or equivalent was awarded)
    - Contact phone number, fax number and email address
    - Awards and achievements, etc
  • Letter of support from their supervisor
  • Abstract to be submitted to ACMM-20 for inclusion in the scientific program. The format of the abstract will be available on the conference web site. Note that in addition to this application, each applicant must follow the normal registration and abstract submission process outline on the conference web site.
3) Junior Technical Members
  • A CV which includes:
    - Name and address (institutional address is preferred)
    - Contact phone number, fax number and email address
    - Awards and achievements, etc
  • Reasons why funding is not available from employer
  • Letter of support from supervisor
  • Abstract to be submitted to ACMM-20 for inclusion in the scientific program. The format of the abstract will be available on the conference web site. Note that in addition to this application, each applicant must follow the normal registration and abstract submission process outline on the conference web site.
